  19. 3.1 Bugfix version. I believe the buffer overrun is fixed now but beta testers
  20. are needed. Also some cosmetic changes were done and the program finally 
  21. reflects the new ownership by A-V Tronics and myself. Thanks goes out to all
  22. those who have sent mail in regards to bugs with Inetserv.

  30. I fixed most of the bugs and announced now version 3.0 of InetServ.
  31. I worked about 1 week fulltime on that new version due the holidays, 
  32. and I'm afraid to tell you all this will be my last version of Inetserv for
  33. now. The supporting homepage will be shutdown (the file will still be placed
  34. at my server) since I'm not allowed to code other programs (contract between
  35. me and my new company I work for). I tested this version with Windows NT 4.0
  36. (SP4) and it runs a lot of more stable and better now. I'm not sure if it runs
  37. fine with Windows 95/98. I'm unable to test that. I'm still open for
  38. your suggestions and questions via email but I'm unsure if I will publish a
  39. public version after this 3.0, which is kind of final, but still can get a lot
  40. of features. You can get the new version from the site as well as the source
  41. (including the service source code now and a tool to convert your userdatabase
  42. from 2.x to 3.0). I added mailing list support to Inetserv (I'm unsure if it
  43. really works well) it requires RelaySupport beeing activated. You see in the
  44. options "Use DNS Lookup" but this wont work. The mailing list in a simple
  45. text file placed in the directory "lists". See the file test.lst for example.
  46. There is no subscribe robot, you must add users manual. This is a experimental
  47. feature, like the webinterface, which can be run on a special port
  48. (use http://servername:portnumber/username) to get access to your mail via
  49. this feature. The telnet interface I added is some basic feature to give you
  50. the ability to create new Users via it. (Someone should make a documentation).
  51. Try "help" if you are in it and refer the files in the "telnet" directory
  52. for more info. Users need the T flag in general to get access and a O
  53. (operator) flag to add new users and such stuff. Well, this is all for now.
  54. Have fun with this and let me know any thoughts you have. I still remember the
  55. version 1.0 two years ago, and I'm prowd about 3.0 now and all the users who
  56. use it (well now its the only freeware server with basic list support for
  57. Windows, uhm). I never made money with Inetserv. The advertising stuff on my
  58. homepage did give me US$ 1,20. And they only pay if you come to at
  59. least US$ 4. Also nobody liked to be added to the sponsor dialog (which is
  60. removed now). So this last version is cardware. After Christmas I like this
  61. idea so you can send me a postcard if you like this program :) See the About
  62. Dialog for more info. My biggest wish is there would be more free software
  63. for Windows but I'm afraid that this will never happen and never such powerful
  64. like the programs you have with Linux. (why need windows if linux gives you
  65. the full house).

  174.  I fixed some problems with data command (it was not terminated correctly),
  175.  thanks Devon :) . I'm working on function named DoMXQuery to read the MX-entry 
  176.  of a NameServer, but the function doesn't work well yet, so I need some extra 
  177.  time to make InetServ routing able. Until this comes, you can use the new option
  178.  in the mail server I named "Route throw ..." In version 2.3.0 you'll send via
  179.  another smtp server (relay). For now, all nonlocal messages can only be copied
  180.  to another user directory :(
  181.  The interface is larger now. And I added a change button in the User setup dialog.
